Founder's story
“I have lived in Kenya for more than 16 years. During my first years here, I got introduced to Kitenges. For those who don’t know, Kitenges are colorful pieces of fabric that contain a variety of patterns and designs.
As a true enthusiast, I introduced my friends to Kitenges and despite really loving them, they always left them behind when they left the country. This didn’t sit well with me. Kitenges deserve better. They deserve to be worn and shown off all over the world.
With this in mind, I decided to do something about it.
To give kitenges the credit they deserve, I decided to start my own business and make them contemporary, urban. I specifically wanted to stitch them myself so I could make them more aesthetically pleasing for anyone to rock them with anything.
The result was a truly Kenyan, hand crafted, sustainable and locally designed product that could be used anywhere in the world. We’ve been lucky enough to reach clients in Kenya, Europe, America and Australia, and we aim to keep growing so everyone can enjoy the magic that is kitenge.
